Copyright
Artwork remains the intellectual property of Piet Grobler. As is customary internationally, copyright of each illustration is retained by me even after it has been sold, unless agreed differently by contract. The buyer of an illustration may therefore not copy or reproduce the image without written permission of the artist. Images created by me might be reproduced in printed or digital publications and magazines, but due credit should be indicated clearly, please.
Commissions
Commissions might be taken, but within reason. I am a narrative illustrator and do not enjoy engaging with complex naturalistic likenesses. Commissions might also be comparatively more expensive than my independent work.
The birth announcement-illustrations are an exception as the concept requires customised and bespoke illustrations. More details about this can be found in the Shop section of this website
Original artwork and reproduction
All original artwork will be flat-packed in durable cardboard. All original artwork will be signed and dated. Since the artist retains copyright of each artwork, I am entitled to have the original that you have bought, reproduced in print or card format. They will however be sold, numbered, marked and marketed as such in order to differentiate them from the original. If you choose to purchase my right to reproduce your original, terms could be discussed.
Printing, shipping and packaging
Printing of cards and illustrations will be of a high quality. Reproductions of illustrations or paintings will be signed and numbered unless stipulated differently in the SHOP section. Reproductions (prints) of illustrations and small paintings will be Giclee printed with durable ink on high quality paper. As giclee prints are made to order, please allow time for them to arrive from the printer..
Packaging will be done as eco-friendly as possible and we might therefore re-use packaging material that is still strong and durable. Please bear with that — let’s save a tree! Prints larger than 20x30cm will be packed in durable cardboard tubes. Prints smaller than that, will be flat-packed in sturdy cardboard.
Damage occurring during the shipping process will be the responsibility of CTT (Portuguese Postal Service) or the Postal service used in your country. Please also note that countries outside of the EU do charge customs and border fees. This is not within my control and might vary.
South African packages will be sent less frequently due to the lack of a reliable postal service in South Africa. In order to avoid the very high cost of couriers from Europe to SA, orders will be sent to SA in batches and then sent via Postnet’s counter-to-counter service in SA.
